| Abstract: | Report on a lecture delivered by C V Raman at the Indian Academy of Sciences. He expounded the new ideas regarding the nature of elastic stresses and strains in solids which have emerged from investigations by himself and his collaborators. Dr. Raman, in his lecture, showed that the arguments justifying the theory forwarded by Cauchy were not logically sustainable. |
