| Abstract: | The paper discusses various issues associated with designing and developing a digital library. The paper encompasses the entire spectrum of the concept right from its evolution to the framework required for the development of a digital library. It also identifies the prerequisites to be considered while building a digital library. Role of open access and the criterion for selecting fully functional digital library software is discussed. Future of digital library is currently unsure therefore, the author has few recommendations for the future of digital libraries. |
