dc.description.abstract | The 2, 6-diaminopyridine was symmetrically substituted with coumarins from a lateral side of the molecules. All the molecules characterized by standard spectroscopic methods such as infrared spectroscopy, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy techniques. Mesomorphic properties are evaluated by the differential scanning calorimetry and the polarized optical microscope. The measurements show that the lower members did not favour liquid crystal formation, while higher members are exhibiting liquid crystalline, namely Nematic mesophase. The DFT computations manifest the nature of liquid crystal geometrical aspects. | en_US |
