Abstract: | Embryonic developmental processes in organisms involve well orchestrated changes in shape, size and organization of the tissues. This remodeling of shape in tissue (during embryonic development or elsewhere) is referred as tissue morphogenesis. Tissue morphogenesis emerges from actively driven shape, size or relative position changes in the constituent cells. These changes at cellular scale happen through self organized mechano-chemical dynamics of sub-cellular structures. The apical actomyosin network is one major example of such sub-cellular machinery that drives cell shape changes which result in tissue morphogenesis. Here we constrain our study within a broad range of phenomena where actomyosin pulsation and flow drive changes in cell shape and cell organization which in turn remodel the whole tissue. |
